Restaurant Review: Stefano’s Laguna Hills, CA

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of having lunch at Stefano’s Restaurant in Laguna Hills, CA.  The owners are a brother and sister duo who are amazing!  Frankie Stefano, Jr. is also the head chef and his sister Alana is in charge of catering.  They could not have been more hospitable and generous with their time and incredible food.  Shortly after arriving we were greeted with their eye-catching and thirst-quenching Italian Sodas.  One was pineapple and the other was strawberry.  It was definitely what I needed on a hot summer day (The first day of summer and it was 99 degrees!!!)

Next to arrive at the table was a beautiful sampler platter with several of their fan favorites.

Included was the Positano panini which has Oven Roasted Turkey, Avocado, Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto, Provolone Cheese, Black Olives, & Red Onion.  They use par-baked panini bread and grill it at 500 degrees, so it’s not overly crunchy.  All I can say is “WOW”.  😉

Also included was THE Meatloaf Sandwich.  Frankie calls this, “Not your mother’s meatloaf.”  It’s his twist on his mother’s meatloaf recipe.  Frankie includes their Homemade Meatloaf served on Thick Cut Rye Bread, Chipotle Mayo, Provolone Cheese, Crispy Fried Onions, Bacon, & Pickles.  The only way to describe this unique combination is “A Party In Your Mouth.”  LOL.  I told Frankie that I’m not typically a meatloaf kind of person, but after trying his, I’m addicted.  😉

We were also lucky enough to try a new salad that isn’t even on the menu yet.  It included Romaine Lettuce, Roasted Chicken, Gnocchi (potato free, rich and delicious), Tomatoes, and a Pesto-Caesar Dressing on the side.

They also had us sample 3 of their side dishes, an Orzo Pasta Salad, Prosciutto Pasta Salad and a Broccoli Salad.  I’m obsessed with the broccoli salad!  It has a unique and amazing dressing drizzled over it with bacon pieces and cranberries.  YUM!!!

Stefano’s really became well-known for their Golden Baked Hams.  Their hams are less salty and have 17% less fat than honey baked hams.  Stefano’s takes a lot of pride in their hams and they are all artisan crafted by hand.  They say you’ll know why their hams have such a strong and loyal following once you try one.

You should definitely consider Stefano’s around the holidays as they offer an exclusive dinner that will feed a family of 6 for only $125.  It includes the ham and all the traditional sides.  Yes, please!

Stefano’s offers full-service catering as well.  Showers, Weddings, Memorial Occasions, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Graduations, Afternoon Teas, or Barbecues, they have you covered.  They also include the set-up and clean-up!

Stefano’s has 2 locations and they are both open Monday through Friday 9 am – 8 pm and Saturday & Sun 7 am – 4 pm.  They serve a delicious breakfast on weekends.  Their Yorba Linda location has been around since 2003 and their Laguna Hills location has been around for about a year and a half.  They’ve certainly found a fan in me!  🙂
