Get Rid of Those Fine Lines & Under Eye Bags!

Have you heard of micro-needling (aka dermarolling)?  I’m obsessed after using it for a few weeks, as my under eye bags have virtually disappeared.  Dark circles and under eye bags are something I’ve battled for as long as I can remember (and aging certainly doesn’t help :-().  Micro-needling can be done at home, by an aesthetician, or in your dermatologist’s office. I’m using the at home Derma Roller System and it’s magical.  It’s a mini roller covered in needles that you roll over your skin to create micro-injuries, which triggers your body to produce collagen in order to repair those micro-injuries.  More collagen = beautiful skin.  It also allows for better penetration of products due to the tiny pinpricks that create openings in your skin.  Micro-needling helps to improve the appearance of wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, scars, uneven skin tone, stretch marks, and as I’ve found out (hallelujah!), under eye bags.

It’s very easy to use as well.  You gently roll the Derma Roller over your skin horizontally, vertically and diagonally using even pressure.  It is painless, just a mild pinching feeling.  There is a slight redness/flushness that occurs, but it disappears fairly quickly.  Having said that, if you tend to have more sensitive skin, I would recommend being a little more careful with the pressure and what products you use after dermarolling.  I’ve been using it every morning as part of my regular skin care routine and have definitely noticed an improvement in my skin overall.  However, the virtual disappearance of my under eye bags have me literally jumping for joy.

They come in different needle sizes, between .5mm and 2.5mm.  I’m using the 1.0mm, which works well to treat most skin issues.  Look through the guide to see which size is best for you.

It is very important to keep your Derma Roller clean.  I use rubbing alcohol after each use and after I make sure that it’s dry, I store it back in it’s original case.

In conclusion, I think that Dermarolling is a great alternative to going under the knife or choosing other pricier options, such as Botox or injections.
